Description
Technical POCs: Mr. Ralph Kohler, AFRL/SNRT, Facsimile (315) 330-2528, Email Ralph.Kohler@rl.af.mil (Email contact preferred) or Dr. Paul Kolodzy, DARPA Advanced Technology Office, Facsimile, (703) 696-9781, Email: kilodzny@darpa.mil (Email contact preferred) Addresses: AFRL/SNRT, 26 Electronic Parkway, Rome NY 13441; DARPA/ATO, 3701 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA 22203-1714. "The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), in conjunction with The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Advanced Technology Office will host an industry day on 17 October, 2001, at the System Planning Corporation, 3601 Wilson Blvd (also known as One Virginia Square) Suite 300, Arlington, VA. The purpose of the Industry Day is to familiarize industry with the Next Generation (XG) Communications program and the associated technology needs in the areas of dynamic, autonomous spectrum assignment for radio frequency (RF) applications. The XG Communications Program is intended to demonstrate enabling technologies and system concepts to improve spectral utilization of military radio frequency emitters by a factor of 20. These demonstrations will include demonstrating a low power/wideband spectrum sensor, time/frequency agile waveforms, and dynamic spectrum access and control. Total program funding is estimated at $50M + with planned demonstrations by a concept development team currently assessing baseline Operational and Technical Architectures. This Industry Day will discuss DARPA's and the user's vision for developing and demonstrating a range of innovative approaches to enabling technologies and system concepts to improve spectral utilization of military radio frequency emitters by a factor of 20. These demonstrations may include demonstrating a low power/wideband spectrum sensor, time/frequency agile waveforms, and dynamic spectrum access and control. At its completion, the Program will have developed and demonstrated an appliqu? for legacy and future emitter systems for joint service utility. The Program will develop enabling technologies and system concepts to provide assured military communications and sensors in support of worldwide, short notice deployments through the dynamic redistribution of allocated spectrum. A Program Research and Development (PRDA) will be published shortly after the Industry Day. The objective is to award multiple contracts to feasibility study, proof of concept individual niche technology developers to define alternative solutions to the Next Generation Spectrum problems as well as to pursue unique high payoff technologies. Receipt of proposals is projected for the second quarter of FY 2002. Attendance at the Industry Day is not a prerequisite for submitting a proposal. However, it will provide a valuable opportunity for questions and answers. Seating at the Industry Day briefing is limited. Request a maximum of three (3) representatives per offeror with six (6) persons maximum per corporation; You may include up to two (2) alternates for the meeting. Badging and sign-in will begin at 0830 hours. The government briefing will begin at 0900 hours and conclude at 1230. Answers to questions will be verbally delivered at 1:30 pm. =20 Request attendees register for the Industry Day providing Name, Company/Organization affiliation, Address, Telephone number, E-mail address not later than 12 October. Registration data can be faxed to (315) 330-1483, attn: Patty Woodard, voice -- 315 330-2164, or emailed to Patricia.Woodard@rl.af.mil. Any advance questions pertaining to the program may be e-mailed or faxed so they can be addressed at Industry Day. "This Industry Day is for informational purposes only. Participation is totally voluntary, and the Government will not reimburse the attendees for any cost associated with participation and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this event.
