- 8010-00-459-1756 UI: KT COATING KIT, RAIN EROSION RESISTING: DESCRIPTION In accordance with the Society for Automotive Engineers Aerospace Material Specification AMS-C-83231, dated September, 1999. QPL QUALIFICATION REQUIRED: Mil-C-83231(s/s by AMS-C-83231) QPL-83231-7, dated 20 July, 1995. The Clean Air Act (40th Code of Federal Regulations, Subpart 63.741-63.753) designate "Aerospace Manufacturing and Rework Facilities" as a regulated emissions source category. Clean Air Act rules limit the volatile organic hazardous air pollutant (VOHAP) content of several types of solvents and coatings used within this industrial category. Suppliers are asked to complete and submit the "Aerospace Manufacturing Coating, Stripper, and Maskant" compliance certificates as applicable. This certificate is located at the following web site: http://www.r6.gsa.gov/fss/hac/ [Environmental Issues] Certificates need only be generated once for each applicable coating, stripper or maskant. When, and if, a supplier reformulates a coating, stripper or maskant, a new certificate would need to be generated. Class: A -- Polyurethane prepolymers which are not dependent on moisture or high relative humidity for curing. Type: II -- Antistatic rain erosion resistant coating. Composition: L -- Limited Use. (For use where Air Pollution Regulations are NOT in effect.) Color: Black The kit shall consist of the following components: 1. Rain erosion prepolymer and activators packaged in separate containers to produce a minimum of 3.8 liters when mixed. 2. A minimum of .95 liter (when mixed) of antistatic polyurethane prepolymer and catalyst in separate containers. 3. Sufficient primer and primer activator, in separate containers, to prime the coverage area of the rain erosion coating. 4. A minimum of 1.5 liters of thinning solvent in a separate container. Age on delivery shall not exceed 2 months. Date of reinspection shall be 12 months from the date of manufacture.
