Description

The R.S. Kerr Powerhouse 50-ton gantry crane has one trolley, one main hoist, and two gantry drives. The hoist, trolley, and gantry drives are dc, with power and control provided by two motor-generator set, one for the hoist and one for the trolley and ga ntry. Each generator is controlled by an associated ac squirrel cage induction motor. The work includes removal of the motors, brakes, control equipment, including the motor-generator sets, for the hoist, trolley, and gantry drives. The design, fabricat ion, factory testing, furnishing, installation and field testing of new ac flux vector drive systems, complete with motors, brakes, controls, wiring and any auxiliary required to replace the crane's drive systems. Lead based paint will be encountered as w ell as asbestos in the wiring systems. Plans and specifications will be available on or about November 6, 2001, and will be provided on Compact Disk (CD-ROM). THE NUMBER OF CD-ROMS WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE (1) PER FIRM.
