Description
The Naval Inventory Control Point Mechanicsburg is seeking information from interested U.S. domestic sources for the manufacture of two (2) Cycloidal Variable Pitch Propeller Ship Sets (each set is comprised of one port and one starboard propeller) for the MHC 51 Class Ships. There is an option for additional requirements during FY 02 for additional ship sets. The MHC 51 Class ships have installed Voith Schneider, Model 21GS Propeller Systems. The propeller systems must be of non-magnetic construction and be capable of withstanding Grade A shock requirements. The propellers must also meet the low noise signature requirements and compatibility with the present worm gear drive design. The propellers must be of an oppostie hand rotation. The port propeller rotor turns clockwise and the starboard propeller rotor turns counterclockwise when viewed from above. Each propeller shall have the following characteristics: a. Number of blades: 5 b. Blade orbit diameter: 2100 mm c. Blade length: 1600 mm d. Blade material: Nickel-Aluminum-Bronze, ABS Type 4 Material e. Control rod material: Non-magnetic f. Continuous appoximate power input: 558 Kw g. Continuous approximate power propeller RPM: 87 h. Continuous approximate power input RPM: 663 Any responses to this announcement should include a brief description of your capabilities, experience, and facilities that would support the U.S. domestic manufacture of the propellers.
