Description

25. The contractor shall design, fabricate, and deliver hardware (handling equipment and transportation case) and engineering support to handle and ship a 50.5" flat mirror located at Chinal Lake, CA. The handling equipment and transportation case must be certified (weight certification based on materials and welding x-rays, or build-and-proof) to meet DoD requirements at the China Lake facility. The approximate weight of the mirror is 1,300 lbs. The contractor shall be responsible for the unloading of the mirror from the belly sling and placing the mirror and handling equipment into its fabricated shipping container. The contractor shall be responsible for contracting the shipping and safe handling of the mirror to Brashear, L.P. in Pennsylvania on or about 10 Dec 01, from Brashear to Lockheed martin (LMMS) in Sunnyvale, CA on or about 28 Mar 02, and back to China Lake, CA on or about 01 May 03. The contractor shall also be responsible for the shipping and safe handling of the belly slingmount and all associated tools to re-mount the mirror into the mount. The contractor shall be responsible for the unpacking and setup of the mirror at Brashear, LMMS, and China Lake. Throughout all operations of packaging, unpacking, and setup, the contractor shall be responsible for the protection of the mirror and safety of personnel. The contractor shall deliver all designs (hardcopy) and hardware built under these tasks to the government.
