- Description
- The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue a contract for the MH-60S Helicopter System Development and Demonstration (SDD) phase of the Airborne Mine Neutralization System (AMNS). The AMNS explosively neutralizes unburied bottom and moored sea mines that are impractical or unsafe to counter using existing minesweeping/mine neutralization techniques. Mine neutralization is accomplished by guiding a tethered, expendable, underwater vehicle to the optimal firing position, and fires a self-contained warhead. The AMNS will consist of four major subsystems: the expendable or training neutralizer, the operator control console, the in-water assembly, and the launcher/stowage assembly. This effort will consist of developing interfaces and hardware, and integrating the MH-60S AMNS into the MH-60S helicopter, common console, and Carriage, Stream, Tow and Recovery System (CS TRS). The operator control console integration effort will consist of adapting and hosting the command and control software to the developed common console. The common console provides all the necessary operator interfaces to monitor and control either neutralizer. The CSTRS will be utilized for MH-60S carriage, launch and recovery of the AMNS and for launch and recovery of any water interface hardware that may be necessary for positive control of the vehicles. NAVSEA intends to negotiate this effort sole source to Lockheed Martin Corporation, Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems, P.O. Box 4840, Syracuse, NY 13221-4840. Lockheed Martin is the sole designer, developer, manufacturer and integrator of the AMNS, and the only source capable of completing the requirement within the required timeframe to support the Navy s needs. No other source has the technical qualifica tion and necessary resources to either perform the work described herein, or will any other supplies or services satisfy the Navy s requirements. Companies interested in subcontract opportunities should contact Lockheed Martin Corporation directly. See Numbered Note (22)*****
