Description

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to award a sole source purchase order to UCLA, Los Angeles, CA 90024, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) -- Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. UCLA will provide individual(s) with the expertise to complete an ongoing research project. Technical services to complete this project are in the discipline areas as follows: 1) Expertise in the inactivation of both alleles of multiple genes by the HIT & RUN technique of gene targeting and also applying this to the genrtion of a mamallian (mouse) embryonic stem cell lacking both alleles of all three inositol trisphosphate receptors; 2) Expertise working with calcium which is a critical ion involved in a variety of cellular responses ranging from rapid responses such as neuronal activation by excitatory amino acids to slower responses such as cell growth and proliferation; and 3) Special knowledge in the characterization of knockout phenotypes with emphasis on the neurological abnormalities. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 15 days of date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with the UCLA.
