- Description
- The contractor shall provide all equipment, materials, labor, and all things necessary for the fabrication and erection of one (1) miter gate at the Bankhead Lock and Dam on the Black Warrior River near Adger, Alabama. The miter gate shall consist of two (2) leafs, fully fabricated at the contractor's approved fabrication facility and delivered to the jobsite ready for erection. Each leaf is approximately 61 feet, 9 inches in width and 89 feet in height. The approximate weight is 350 tons. The contractor shall be responsible for all cranes, barges and other equipment necessary for the delivery and installation of the two (2) gate leafs. The contractor shall be responsible for cathodic protection equipment and timbers on the leafs at the fabrication facility. The contractor shall be responsible for removing the existing lower miter gate (which consist of 2 leafs). The gate shall become the property of contractor. The contractor shall ensure that the new gate leafs fit on the new pintles and shall connect the anchor links and operating machinery strut arm to each new gate leaf. After installation of new gate leafs, contractor shall provide technical support while the government completes work to include re-installing stoplogs, dewatering the lock and making adjustments to the quoin end, stressing the diagonals, adjusting miter and quoin blocks, placing backing material behind the blocks and installing bottom rubber seals. Estimated project duration is 18 to 24 months. It is anticipated that a firm-fixed price contract will be awarded based on "best value" procedures. Technical/Management source selection criteria will be included in the solicitation; therefore, detailed proposals will be required. This is an Unrestricted Procurement. NAICS Code is 332312; the size standard for which is 500 employees. The solicitation approximate issue date will be on or about 16 November 2001. The approximate proposal receipt date is 18 January 2002. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed paper format, however, the Government reserves the right to revert to paper medium when it is determined to be in the best interest of the Government.
