SYNOPSIS FOR INFORMATION ONLY: F33657-02-R-5400 The United States Air Force, Aeronautical Systems Center, Reconnaissance Systems Program Office, Contracting Branch (ASC/RAKP), Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, has received authorization to pursue on a sole source basis with MariPro Inc., Goleta, CA, for the planning, production, site- specific design and support, integration, testing, documentation, training, load-out and installation tasks required for another Hydroacoustic Data Acquisition System (HDAS) to be located at Ascension Island. This HDAS at Ascension Island will replace an aging system that is not economically maintainable. This second production unit will include state-of-the-art proprietary software equipment enabling compatibility and interoperability with existing HDAS stations. Installation must be implemented as soon as possible to ensure the ability to collect critical data for the nuclear treaty- monitoring mission. Local oceanic conditions at Ascension Island limit work performance to the months of January and February when the sea bottom is free of sand. Due to the highly specialized nature of this project, tight schedule requirements, and the reuse of hardware designs and software developed for the first HDAS system, it is necessary to avoid substantial duplication of development effort and associated costs.- ASC/RAKP anticipates releasing a request for proposal to MariPro Inc. by approximately 13 Nov 01.
