Description

This is a Market Survey to locate alternative sources of supply for an artificial slate product that resist hail damage, UV weathering, wind uplift better than any other alternative product. The product(s) are as follows: 1) Dimensions: Minimum Width:12 inches, Maximum Width: 14 inches, Minimum Length: 22 inches, Maximum Length: 24 inches, Minimum Thickness: 5/8 inch at butt end; 2) Material: 100% inorganic, consisting of natural slate with resin binder and glass fiber reinforcement. No cement based materials; 3) Color: Gray, and within a reasonable match to the existing slate. Color must be integral throughout shingle, and be produced by natural materials. No paints or dyes allowed; and 4) Test Requirements: Fire Rating: Class A per ASTM E-108, Wind Resistance: 110 per UL 997, Strength: 300 lbs per ICBO AC-07, Weatherometer: Pass ASTM G 23 at 2,000 hours, Moisture Absorption: Less than 1.0% 5per UBD 15-5 at 48 hrs. The current source for this product is Owens Corning. The response must include documentation such as product dimensions, test results, material composition, and color demonstrating that the supplier can, in fact, supply the Army with an item that will meet this requirement both physically and functionally. Successful supplier may be required to warrant that the item supplied will satisfactorily perform when used for the purpose intended by the Army. The deadline for response is Nov 30, 2001.
