Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to acquire a large, state-of-the-art Aerosol Wind Tunnel System (AWTS) for the production, measurement, and evaluation of aerosols, with the larger purpose of determining the exposure, effects, and risks of aerosols in the ambient air on people and the environment. The AWTS is to be a highly specialized wind-tunnel system with very wide ranges of flow speeds, particle sizes, and aerosol loadings, and with controlled air temperature and relative humidity. The system will require automated controls and integrated measurement capabilities for measuring, monitoring, and regulating conditions in the tunnel. The purpose of this procurement is to acquire the AWTS, which includes its design, fabrication, installation, and certification testing in EPA's new Research and Administration Facility in which space for the AWTS has been allocated. The DRAFT specifications will be posted on the EPA web site. There will be a presolicitaiton conference held to obtain comments and recommendations relative to the draft specifications. The conference will be held in Research Triangle Park, NC at 10:00 A.M. on 12/11/01. The location of the conference will be posted on the web site. Organizations planning to attend the conference must provide notification via e-mail no later than 12/7/01. The notification should be sent to hennessey.mike@epa.gov.
