- Description
- Description -- The purpose of the Support Added Value Enterprises (SAVE) activity is to raise the rate of economic growth in Georgia through expanded production and sales (largely exports) of added-value agricultural products. This will produce greater incomes for agricultural processors and producers, and higher revenues for government. By developing effective support systems, promoting an enabling policy and regulatory environment and by strengthening the linkages between producers, processors and their markets, the project will better enable agribusiness enterprises to locate and meet market demand. In implementing this activity a design/implement approach using a base period followed by an option period will be followed. The initial phase will last approximately eighteen months and be focused on research, testing and planning activities that will provide the assistance parameters for Phase II. The second phase will be for approximately forty two months and will concentrate on the implementation of activities identified in Phase I to remove constraints to the growth and development of the agricultural sector, added-value processing and exports. Inauguration of the second or option phase will be dependent upon satisfaction of several conditions to be announced in the solicitation. USAID/Caucasus anticipates award of a Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) completion type contract to implement the SAVE activity. The preferred method of distribution of USAID Acquisition and Assistance (A&A) information is via the Internet. (By exception, USAID can provide the solicitation on a 3.5" floppy disk (Microsoft 97 format), via e-mail, or in hard copy.) This CBD Notice can be viewed and downloaded using the Agency Web Site. The solicitation, once issued, can be downloaded from the Agency web site. You are encouraged to access the solicitation via the Internet as this eliminates possible delays associated with mailing, in general, and particularly from overseas Missions.
