The workshop accompanies the launch of a three year research and development effort for new/improved wide area airborne minefield detection technology. The workshop focuses on a Countermine FY03-05 applied research effort to fully modify and explore the appro priate sensor suites for phenomenology assessment through data collections in the field, and modeling for wide area airborne minefield detection and wide area munitions detection. Major goals of the Wide Area Detection Workshop are to provide: 1. Interested government and industrial parties information on the Government's WAD R&D Program; 2. The user community an opportunity to explain the importance of their need for new/improved technology for airborne minefield detection; 3. The Government an opportunity to listen and learn to what industry has to offer to solve the wide area minefield detection problem; 4. Via four panel discussion sessions, outbrief the industry/user community on what the Countermine (CM) technical panel thinks of the various approaches presented during the workshop.
