This service will be for collaborative lab efforts require the manipulation of several thousand genetic clones maintained in the laboratory and the maintenance of a database developed from those clones. The candidate should be highly familiar with the database development and date management. The molecular biology efforts of my laboratory are now driven by the development of erythroid genomic projects aimed at defining and characterizing the profile of genes transcribed in erythroid cells as they differentiate in culture. This work is integrated closely with the flow cytometry projects in the laboratory that constitute the cell biology focus. The database caretaker must be proficient in managing the information pertaining to several thousand sequences derived from genetic clones of genes transcribed in human erythroid cells. Each of those sequences has been compared extensively with all known genetic sequences in the public domain as part of an ongoing collaboration with the NIH intramural Sequencing Center.
