Description
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize LLNL's "Smart Camera" Technology. The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy is seeking industrial partners to commercialize a stand-alone "Smart Camera" digital video security surveillance system that has been internally developed. The current "Smart Camera" system design has many advantages over traditional closed circuit television analog video security surveillance systems. The minimal "Smart Camera" system includes three primary components: a camera module, a local area network (typically a 100 base T network) and a viewer/host personal computer (PC). Note that the system can support multiple camera modules and multiple viewer/host PCs since it features a multiple user interface and control capability. The compact, robust camera module is comprised of an analog video camera, a high-end microprocessor system with Windows NT operating system, a power supply and a secure enclosure. The microprocessor system includes on-board memory plus video and network interfaces. Key features of the "Smart Camera" are: a) secure and authenticated control and video data communications between camera module and the viewer/host computer, b) remote software update capability, c) multiple user interface and control, d) on-command loop recording or instant replay capability plus numerous digitally enhanced features including: remote camera tilt, pan & zoom capability, intelligent alarm processing and object recognition capability. The "Smart Camera" system is expected to strongly compete in the market place for high-end commercial and government video security surveillance applications. Licensees and collaborators are sought with technical expertise in the areas of software and computer-based system development and manufacturing. Successful industrial partners preferably shall have an established history and consistent record of new product development, and experience and expertise in software and computer-based system development and manufacturing. If you are interested in working with LLNL to commercialize or further develop the "Smart Camera" system, please respond in writing within 30 days of this announcement. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing or further developing LLNL's "Smart Camera" Technology should provide a written statement of interest and a description of corporate capabilities relevant to commercializing the technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: CBD02-001. Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days from the date this announcement is published to ensure consideration of your interest in LLNL's "Smart Camera" Technology.
