Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Spectra-Physics, Mountain View, CA for a Full Service On-Site Preventative Maintenance Plan for one (1) S-P MILLENNIA X Laser System (S/N 1144) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available. The system includes a state-of-the art diode-pumped, doubled Nd:YVO4 Laser which was manufactured by the proposed Contractor, which is the only source possessing proprietary knowledge of its functionality, maintaining an inventory of readily available spare parts, and employing fully-trained service technicians standing by for deployment. The plan includes travel, labor, parts (excluding consumables), two (2) annual PM visits and ECO reliability updates. A firm fixed price purchase order will be issued on or about 12/14/01. The period of performance is 2-years. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 811219 and the size standard is $5.0 mil. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; not competitive solicitation will be issued; however, the Government will consider all quotes or other information received by 12/13/01. Information received will normally be considered solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
