Description
Bechtel Nevada (BN) is seeking sources to provide an integrated and tested pulse power driver system. The vendor must deliver a marx circuit and conduct limited acceptance testing. The driver must physically interface with an existing oil filled containment tank, controls, and output system. The driver output will be tested with a pulse forming line (PFL), which will be coupled to an instrumented load. BN will provide the PFL, load, and other ancillaries. The physical parameters define a circuit with 33 stages charging at +/-50 kV producing an output of 3.3 MV from an erected marx capacitance of 6 nF +/-10%. Short circuit testing will demonstrate in <2.7 ohms of series resistance and <8.5 uH of series inductance at ~+/-20 kV charge. Final acceptance testing at +/-40 kV charge will produce <25 ns of jitter, faults <1 in 200 shots, consistent voltage outputs within +/-5%, ~30 to 45 seconds of charge time, >1 minute of charge hold, and a shot rate of 1 per 15 minutes. Assembly and testing will involve close collaboration with personnel from BN, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), and Sandia National Laboratory (SNL). Final acceptance testing will occur at the contractor's site. Deliverables will include a complete driver system and testing documentation. The vendor must have demonstrated design, fabrication, circuit modeling, and successful deployment of pulse power systems interfaced with high power inductive voltage adder accelerators. Interested vendors should submit a brief synopsis of qualifications as identified above. A formal Request for Proposal will be issued to all vendors who meet the above-listed qualifications after a review of their submittals.
