- Description
- The U.S. Department of Labor requires a Mainframe Computer Center Vendor that can provide the following Services: (1) HARDWARE: Provide the minimum performance equal to the processing capabilites of a 50 MIP LPAR on an IBM 9672 RC6 Enterprise Server and a 45 MIP LPAR on an IBM 9672 R24B Enterprise Server. (2) SUPPORTED SOFTWARE: Provide current releases of the following software running on the Enterprise Server: OS/390, JES2, SMS, HSM, TSO/ISPF, CICS, SDSF, IOF, GIS/VS, IBM SORT, TCP/IP, IMB Utilities, COBOL, IBM C/C++, PL/1, FORTRAN/VS, High Level Assembler, FDR/ABR, FATS/FATAR, IAM, SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/FSP, SPSS, CA-Librarian, CA-Easytrieve, CA-Easytrieve Plus, ALLTAX2, FTAM, Kermit, Virtual Terminal, and SYNCSORT. (3) UNSUPPORTED IBM SOFTWARE: We have several critical systems that are dependent of unsupported IBM software. Provide the following unsupported software running on the Enterprise Server: CICS Version 2.1.2, DB2 Version 2.3, COBOL II, and Assembler H. (4) DOL LICENSED SOFTWARE: Install and provide support for SuperWylbur, VPS, EXPIDITER, Change Man, CA-IDMS. Install other DOL provided software such as ADABAS, MANTIS, TOTAL, and CA-RAMIS. (5) PROCESSING: Provide the hardware and software necessary to support interactive and batch processing, including FTP, by DOL agencies. DOL requires a batch job priority classification that is a function of the maximum time for job initiation. DOL users must be able to control their jobs including rerouting, printing, purging, and submitting jobs under another userid. (6) SECURITY: Provide a security system with at least the rating and capabilities of RACF. Allow DOL to administer it's own security. Provide logs with accesses and violations to DOL security personnel. (7) STORAGE: Provide capacity equivalent to at least 380 volumes of on-line storage with the capability of IBM 3390 Model 3 DASD confirgured as Public, Private, and SYSDA. Provide tape drives and tape library that support 3490 cartridges, 3490E cartridges, 3480 cartridges, and 6250 BPI reel tapes. Provide CD-ROM readers and writers for use with the Enterprise Servers. (8) PRINTING: Provide a mainframe printing facility for BLS in the Postal Square Building with a minimum of 2 laser printers with the capabilities of an IBM 3900 and a local printing facility with a laser printer and courier service to the Francis Perkins Building for other agencies in DOL. (9) BACK-UP SITE: Provide a back-up printer facility if printing is unavailable for 24 hours. Provide for off-site storage of backup tapes and an alternative site for disaster recovery. (10) COMMUNICATIONS: Provide equipment necessary to support connectivity for leased lines from DOL, including regional offices and State agencies, that support 3270 terminal emulation and dial-in asynchronous communications over telephone lines. Provide RJE communications to support high-speed XEROX printers connected to BARR equipment. (11) MICROFICHE: Provide 105 mm microfiche recording including titling, indexing, recording, duplicating, editing, packaging and labeling. (12) COURIER SERVICE: Provide courier services between the DOL buildings and the contractor's facility to pick-up and deliver printouts, tapes, and other media. (13) ACCOUNTING: Provide tracking of billable activity by user and by agency for all of DOL except BLS. BLS requires that billable activity be tracked by user and funding program. Provide monthly billing reports and electronic files that capture all billable activity. This is a Request for Information. All interested offerors should submit a Capabilities Statement along with other relevant information which demonstrates the offeror's qualifications and capabilities. All requests for information must cite RFI 02-111 and must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2001. All potential offerors must indicate in their request for information whether they are a Small Business, Large Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, 8(a) or other type of contractor.
