Description

The US Geological Survey (USGS) anticipates entering into non-competitive negotiations with California Institute of Te chnology, Pasadena, (Caltech) for 10,540 square feet of office and related support space. The subject space will be in supp ort of an ongoing cooperative project between USGS and Caltech University and is located on campus adjacent to Caltech?s Sou thern California Seismic Network Operations Center at 525 and 535 South Wilson Street, Pasadena. On-site presence by the US GS is required so that they can operate instrument networks for earthquake monitoring and to provide timely responses in cas e of any significant seismic events. USGS and Caltech University collaborate in earthquake hazard mitigation with local gov ernments and industries. Caltech University also offers shared resources, such as their geologic library and Media Center, and provides access and administration to their computer Local Area Network under the conditions of being a part of their ca mpus. The lease term will be ten years. Suppliers who believe they can provide the required space with the same university privileges are invited to submit an affirmative response by January 16, 2002 in accordance with Note 22. All such response s will be evaluated in order to determine whether that supplier has full knowledge and capabilities to meet requirements of USGS.
