Description

Kuiu Pipe and Bridge Replacement: The project consists of removing and placing in storage an 18288 mm Modular Bridge Superstructure. Remove and dispose of both substructures which includes a log crib structure. Obliterate and seed existing approaches. Furnish and install a 24384 mm Modular bridge with curb and spread sill substructure. Realign 200 meters of existing road for the bridge approaches. Remove and dispose of a 1200 mm culvert and a 2500 mm x 1200 mm open bottom arch. Furnish and install a 4270 mm x 2210 mm open bottom arch on contractor designed concrete sills. Furnish and install contractor designed concrete collars. Realign 10 meters of a stream. Furnish a 3000 m3 pit-run aggregate stockpile. The work sites are located on Forest Development Road (FDR) 6402, locally known as the Kuiu Main Line road, part of the Kuiu Island road system. The construction sites range from 9.66 km to 20.79 km road kilometers from the Rowan Bay sort yard on Kuiu Island, Alaska. Rowan Bay is located approximately 81 air kilometers west of Petersburg and is accessible only by boat or floatplane. Estimated price range is $250,000 to $500,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which will be considered. The soliciation will be posted to the FedBizOpps site and also the Tongass National Forest Internet Homepage http://www.fs.fed.us/r10/tongass on or about January 22, 2002 for viewing and printing.
