COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 23,1997 PSA#1998INDUSTRY DAY, DISTANCE LEARNING The Director of Education for Air
Education and Training Command, and the Air Force Distance Learning
Office (AFDLO) will host an "Industry Day" at Maxwell Air Force Base,
located in Montgomery, Alabama on March 5, 1998. The purpose of this
gathering is to provide a forum for the distance learning industries to
hear how the Air Force plans to capitalize on distance learning for its
education and training requirements. Specifically, the AFDLO will
review the Air Force vision for distance learning. Then the AFDLO, and
other Air Force education and training experts, will discuss current
and projected uses of distance learning technologies. Currently, the
Air Force uses a variety of distance learning technologies ranging from
print to interactive video teletraining ("business TV"), computer-based
instruction, web-based instruction, and interactive courseware. The Air
Force is interested in contractors who have experience in distance
learning requirements identification, course conversions, course
maintenance, course registration systems, hardware and software for
distance learning delivery systems, network administration and
maintenance, student and instructor support, student testing systems,
and program metrics. The Air Force is not interested in receiving
capability information at this time, so please refrain from sending any
documents until solicited. The exact location and time of the event
